For many, there is a terrible misconception and it usually stems from the misinterpretation on what a watt measure is. Many are of the opinion that low watts implies that the light may not be bright. However, this is not the case.

Watts is a measurement of how much power or electricity is used. It is in no way an indication of how much light is produced. If you are interested in this information, it is crucial to ask the amount of lumens the light outputs.

Lumens is essentially how we know how bright a lighting fixture is. Officially the definition goes as, "the SI unit of luminous flux, equal to the amount of light emitted per second in a unit solid angle of one steradian from a uniform source of one candela." This is essentially means, lumens mean brightness !
